Stack Depth

Stack depth describes how many big blinds or pot-sized bets a player has remaining. It fundamentally changes strategy — shallow stacks favor push/fold play and reduce implied odds, while deep stacks enable complex postflop play, larger raises, and greater implied odds. Understanding how stack depth affects ranges and decisions is essential for tournament and cash game success.

Example

With 20bb stacks, you might fold AJo from early position. With 200bb stacks, that same hand becomes a raise.
