Value Bet
A value bet is a wager made when you believe you have the best hand, with the goal of extracting money from opponents who will call with inferior holdings. The key to value betting is sizing your bet correctly — large enough to maximize profit but small enough that worse hands will still call. Value betting is the primary source of profit for winning players.
Example
You hold top pair with a good kicker on the river and bet 75% pot, expecting worse top pairs and second pairs to call.
