Check-Raise
A check-raise is a deceptive play where you check (indicating weakness) and then raise when an opponent bets. It can be used both as a value play (with strong hands) or as a bluff. The check-raise is powerful because it traps the bettor for extra money and shows significant strength, but overusing it makes your checking range transparent.
Example
You check with a set on the flop, the button bets, and you check-raise to build the pot with your strong hand.
