Betting
Overbet
An overbet is any wager exceeding the size of the current pot. Once considered unusual, overbets are now a standard tool in advanced poker strategy. They are most effective in polarized situations where you have either a very strong hand or a bluff, and you want to put maximum pressure on your opponent's medium-strength hands. Overbets extract maximum value and maximize fold equity.
Example
With the nuts on the river in a $100 pot, you bet $150 to get maximum value from your opponent's strong but second-best hands.
